Our Lady of Medjugorje constantly repeats in Her messages the need of pray. Throughout the years Our Lady has told us about the many values of daily prayer. In fact it is true that nothing is impossible with prayer, as long as what is asked is for the greater good.  It is also important that faith can not exist without prayer and the rewards of faith without prayer can not exist either. If nothing else, Medjugorje has become an oasis of prayer as priest, nuns and pilgrims gather daily for Mass at St. James Parish or at a number of holy religious sites throughout the village of Medjugorje. Concerning Mass Our Lady has mentioned in Her messages that Mass is the greatest prayer to God.

Prayer is a simple and extremely effective way of communicating with God and uniting ourselves with the Virgin Mary. It has been said that Prayer is as important for life in God as is air for every breath of life.  On September 6, 1984, in a message to the Medjugorje visionaries Our Lady said, "there is no peace without prayer."

In a variety of other messages Our Lady has told us, God will give us the graces we seek (Oct. 4, 1984),  With prayer the Holy Spirit will enlighten us, (Nov. 1, 1984), Through prayer we will comprehend God's and Our Lady's Love for us, (Nov. 15, 1984), Prayer can disarm evil and bring us happiness (Jan. 24. 1985). Our Lady has even told us those who pray have nothing to fear in the future.

It would be impossible here to give the reader a full scope of all that can be accomplished through simple prayer. Gospa (Our Lady) has given us hundreds and hundreds of messages about the miraculous goods that come though this simple act of communicating with God. Even so, Our Lady of Medjugorje often tells us we are far away from God and few are living the Medjugorje Messages and few are praying as they should.

Jesus told Saint Maria Faustina, "Encourage souls to place great trust in My fathomless mercy. Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins than there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the immeasurable depths of My mercy." This tells us the simple prayer of the Divine Mercy Chaplet can wipe away a lifetime of sin as deep and ponderous as an ocean.

St. Teresa reminds is in one of her writing, "Whoever makes a habit of prayer should think only of doing everything to conform his will to God's. Be assured that in this conformity consists the highest perfection we can attain, and those who practice it with the greatest care will be favored by God's greatest gift and will make the quickest progress in the interior life. Do not imagine there are other secrets. All our good consists in this."

In the Scriptures Jesus tells us, "If only you have the faith of a mustard seed you could say to this mountain, "Pick thyself up and cast thyself into the sea and it will be done." As I wrote above, faith can not exist without prayer but with faith and prayer mountains can be moved." If mountains can be moved, we know for certain nothing is impossible if only we believe and prayer.
