This is the famous celebrated Byzantine Icon dating back to Rome in the year 1499. The history of this icon is long, detailed and the devotion remains in many parishes even today. The Icon in this frame is vintage based on the few flaws in the oval gold color overlay with a few old spots of dry old moisture, yet it has clearly been placed in a newer modern frame that is not of the same vintage as the image.
